AbleTalks

About

AbleTalks is a community of young emerging professionals with autism and other neurodivergence. Participants are supported as they set and achieve goals in a variety of aspects of life, both professionally and personally. AbleTalks meets weekly to allow members to engage with each other and participate in individualized independent study, interpersonal skills, and work/life maneuvering..

Our members are entrepreneurs who would love to discuss their dreams and goals from their perspective. We consider our members to be the experts of their own lives. This is a unique opportunity to get valuable life and work experience interacting with, and learning from, autistic adults..

We are looking for volunteers and interns in a variety of capacities- both hands-on and behind the scenes positions are available. Time commitments are flexible to student schedules. 1 in 44 children are diagnosed with autism each year. For that reason volunteering with us will give important life experience for everyone, no matter the major or background.

  • Marketing and Social Media:

    • Marketing and Social Media interns and volunteers will work to create the AbleTalks brand across platforms. Experience in social media and related fields are encouraged to join.

  • Administrative:

    • Volunteers and interns working on the administration team will complete a variety of tasks to support AbleTalks and its operations. Volunteers and interns should be highly organized and able to work independently. Experience with Microsoft Suite is recommended.

  • Member Support:

    • Member Support volunteers will be more hands-on with AbleTalks participants. Volunteers and interns will join meetings and oversee participant intake forms. This is a great position for those interested in health related fields or anyone working with those with disabilities in the future.

Please reach out to Nancy Wells at (479)957-2121 if you are interested in becoming a volunteer or intern. Schedules are flexible and accommodating to student needs, but weekly commitments are preferred. Options are also available for UARK students needing to fulfill related requirements to their major and can be discussed with Ms. Wells.

Our Mission:

AbleTalks provides perpetual learning for autistic adults, their families, and the greater community so they have full opportunities to make their best mark on the world.

Our Vision:

Sharing autism’s unlimited strengths and unique potential. We believe that respect, honesty, compassion, and positivity are at the center of all we value at AbleTalks
